The Trade

TL; DR: Rare Styles is open source under Apache 2.0. You can use it for free, including in commercial work. If you need direct support, implementation guidance, SLA, and someone who can actually own the risk with you, there are separate paths below.

Rare Styles is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license. You can use, modify, and distribute the library under that license, including in commercial projects.

Open Source Use

There is no license fee for adopting Rare Styles itself.

If you redistribute Rare Styles or ship it as part of a product, preserve the Apache 2.0 license text and any required NOTICE information that accompanies the distribution.

Open-source support is self-serve. The public channel is GitHub issues and requests. If you just need a quick answer, you can also ask ChatGPT.

In practice
Use the library freely. When redistributing it, do not remove the license text or required notices. For open-source support, use GitHub or ask ChatGPT.

Help for Attribution

If you want advice, direct guidance, or a more thoughtful answer than an issue thread usually gives, Rare’s development team can help in exchange for attribution.

The idea is simple: place a visible link to Rare Styles in the product, documentation, about page, repository, or delivery materials, and write to hi@raredigits.io.

What counts as attribution
A visible note in the product, documentation, about page, repository, or delivery materials that names Rare Styles and links back to Rare Digits is usually enough.

$9,999 for Enterprise Support

This option is for corporate teams who need guarantees, a defined support path, and someone they can point to when the integration carries delivery risk.

The package covers SLA, direct answers, implementation help, and priority support during adoption.

Scope
One payment. One project. Designed for rollout, escalation, internal accountability, and teams that need a named party behind the implementation.

Custom Work

If you need custom components, migration work, token setup, accessibility review, certification, compliance support, or deeper integration into your internal frontend platform or design system, that should be discussed separately.

That kind of work is usually less about licensing and more about architecture, delivery risk, validation, and team coordination.
